These massive, ancient beasts are the largest and mightiest children of G'Harron, Lord of Bears. As their name suggests, Cave Bears make their lairs in deep caverns, where they spend years at a time in hibernation. Although they emerge from their long sleeps profoundly hungry, Cave Bears avoid the wanton slaughter many other beasts engage in: they are selective in the hunt, and eat far less than their size might suggest. Cave Bears are solitary, territorial beasts, and grow intimately familiar with every tree and trail of their feeding grounds. These ursine giants are far calmer than other beasts of their size, but one thing is guaranteed to drive them into a murderous rage: the defilement of nature in their territory, or intrusion into their lands by any creatures of Chaos or Children of the World. I have seen these monsters lash out at Orcs, Elves, and Men with equal fury, mauling them with their great claws and cruel bites. The sheer size and strength of a Cave Bear can be terrifying to behold -- I have seen one of these beasts easily topple a mighty oak by running into it, and the crushing embrace of a Cave Bear can burst organs and shatter bones. Cave Bears seem to possess both extraordinary intellects and long memories, and prize solitude above all things.
