The steaming fens of the South are home to many horrors, but none so terrible as the dreaded Swamp Hag. Bloated and repulsive, these vile women dwell in isolated huts, brewing potions and working foul spells of the darkest magic. Fond of the taste of Human and Elvish flesh, Swamp Hags are cunning tricksters who ensnare their prey through magic and deception. According to some, Swamp Hags began their lives as Furies, members of that ancient sisterhood of witches that has lived in the Swamps and Jungles of the South since the beginning of Time. Legend has it that some Furies are drawn to twist and break the stuff of flesh instead of sky or water, and learn hideous secrets from Saedron, the Mother of Night. Swamp Hags learn many arcane secrets while listening to the ravings of their mad Goddess, but any who would learn hidden lore from these dreaded witches should be on their guard, lest the knowledge come at too high a price.
